Before the repair can be carried out, the metal front containing the woofer and tweeter must be removed from the speaker cabinet.
The metal front without the woofer
First remove the woofer from the metal front. To do this, loosen the four screws at the back of the front.

What you need for the repair:
- a foam surround for the Genelec M604289631 woofer
- suitable glue
- a scalpel
- painter's tape
- alcohol
- cotton swabs
- possibly a syringe to spray glue under a surface
- a scouring pad
- a screwdriver
- possibly weights to keep the foam edge in place while drying
Securely seal the area around the dustcap with painter's tape. This prevents dust from entering the interior of the woofer. Then remove the foam remains from the woofer frame. First scrape away the coarse residue, then clean the frame as clean as possible with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol or another solvent. If necessary, roughen the clean frame slightly with a scouring pad.
There is often also foam residue on the back of the metal frame to which the woofer was screwed. Remove those residues as well.
The frame of the woofer is now completely clean. Support the cone with your hand and carefully remove the adhesive residue from the cone edge. Do not remove too much as this may damage the black coating of the woofer.
When the edge of the cone is clean enough (the edge does not have to be 100% free of glue residue), apply glue to the edge of the cone and the inner lip of the foam surround.
Glue the foam surround to the cone. To facilitate adhesion, a weight (here: a roll of magnetic tape) can be placed on the inner edge of the foam surround.

When the glue is dry, glue the foam surround to the frame. Apply glue between the woofer frame and the foam surround with a brush or a syringe. Then glue the foam surround to the frame. Again, a weight can help keep the parts to be glued together. Here we use magnetic tape....
...but something else, in this case a tea glass, can also fit...
...and otherwise this homemade row of weights always fits....
Then screw the woofer back onto the metal front plate.
